How much forex reserves do U.S. have? Why the U.S. is not on the list of countries with the most reserves?
I have heard that the U.S. reserves are at Gold Bullion In Fort Knox Texas.How many days will it takes if affected by a crisis? Why economically powerful countries like USA, UK, Germany etc, and others are not listed in Wikipedia.But there are countries like China, India, Brazil, small countries like Singapore, UAE etc Another factor I have observed is Japan one of the financial power house in the list. Can anyone help me in the dilemma of why the USA etc do not believe in investing in resrves.Wht are other alternatives. At the WHT reasons we can consider the U.S. as the richest nation? If it does not have enough resrves to counter any crisis?
The U.S. has no need of forex reserves. There are three types of official reserves: (A) precious metals (2) foreign currency deposits with foreign central banks, and (3) foreign central banks' deposits in national currency with the domestic central bank. Most the U.S. official reserves fall under (3) and they are U.S. dollar deposits by foreign central banks with the U.S. Federal Reserve. As for "investing in reserves ", you are mistaken. Book not an investment, they are an expense. The only reason to reserves to exist is to maintain an orderly flow of international payments without causing too much volatility in exchange rates. On what basis can we consider the U.S. as the richest nation? The reason that no other country has so much stuff (houses, factories, cars, airplanes, office buildings, highways, etc.) as the U.S. makes …
