honda engine swap question is for people who know Hondas extremely well?
OK my friend wants to swap this engine (J30A1. …. 3.0 L V6) into his little 1993 del sol … I personally dont think it will fit even with hours fab work I still doubt it would even be close .. I've tried to tell him to get a 4cyl V-tec, but he simply argue back "V6 will have more torque than a 4cyl could ever dream of," which I agree is true but the car only weighs like 2300 pounds, how much do you need. add to the lack of space, he will have a turbo or "mabe even a twin turbo" nitro and some other things at the moment cannot remember …. im gonna stop in front of your eyes fall out .. thanks for any help
First off V6 WILL NOT FIT if he wants to drive. Firewall would have me removed and a new custom filed. So even require the engine a rear wheel drive system. And as far as his "v6 will make more torque" things hes an idiot. Initially, yes it would be more torque, but the cost of putting this engine in the Del Sol would be upwards of $ 30,000, probably more. You basically have to build a complete frame, get new everything, including electronics, and make BODY of Del Sol "fit" on the custom frame. When an engine swap as a B16A or B18C1 would fall in nicely, adding a turbo kit, build the engine for low compression, run 15-18 PSI of boost to make 400 + HP and make it is about $ 10,000. While the "friend" is a waste of 3-4 years trying to get his V6 swap work.
